Ketogenics is a diet based on the idea that if you lower your carb/sugar intake and increase you healthy fat intake it will place your metabolism in a state of ketosis. This basically means your body will burn fat for fuel instead of glucose (sugar).
I read a quote about weight loss once that said “It takes 4 weeks for you to notice a change, 8 weeks for your friends to notice and then 12 weeks for the rest of the world to notice.”
At 4 weeks I had lost 10 pounds and I did noticed.
It’s been a month since I’ve started making strides to a healthier lifestyle, and let me tell you it has not been easy. Every day I have to make the conscious effort to choose me. To choose my health and happiness. I have to work toward a metal change just as much as a physical change. In the words of Dory I have to “Just Keep Swimming”
It’s update time!!! I know it’s not as exciting as mail time *insert Blue’s Clues song* but I do have some very exciting news to share. I have lost SEVEN pounds! Yes you read that right, a whole seven pounds since I started the Ketogenic diet almost two weeks ago.
How did I do it you ask? Simple I reduced the number of calories I consume a day, by eating lots of (healthy) fats, moderate amounts of protein and low amounts of carbs and sugar. Read my first blog post, What the Keto? to learn more.

Ketogentics, ever heard of it? No? Yeah me too until last week I had no idea what it was. Basically it is a high fat, low carb and moderate protein diet. It means you can eat bacon, eggs and butter all day and still lose weight and be healthier. Sounds too good to be true right? Well it’s not and is actually so much better for you because as humans we are natural fat burners.
